Bhose Khind Tunnel (Sina Medium Project)
Tal. Karjat Dist. Ahmednagar
The construction of Sina Medium Project is completed in the year 1985, since then it is observed that due to the required yield is not available in catchment. The command area 8445 Ha. under the Sina Medium Project is not being fully Irrigated. Looking after these aspects it is studied and felt necessary to feed up this dam by some other assured sources.
Considering above aspect, the surplus water in rainy season of Kukadi catchment can be taken from km 167 of Kukadi Left Bank Canal of Kukadi integrated major project and let it out by gravity flow through open canal and tunnel at about 19.210 km in length.
Bhose Khind Tunnel is situated at Karjat Taluaka (Dist -Ahmednagar) .The revised administrative approval is sanctioned by Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation Pune vide letter no. MKVDC Reso. No. MKVDC/Sina medium project / RAA/MP/4/299/ (331/99) 11137 dated 20th Nov. 2000

Under Sina medium project from Ahmednagar and Beed district.
Necessity of Bhose Khind Tunnel –
Bhose Khind Tunnel is a part of Sina Medium Project .For the Sina Dam, which has been constructed in 1985, the required yield is not available and thus affecting the ultimate irrigation potential8445 Ha. After the study, it is revealed that, if this Sina Dam is augmented by feeding water of 1200 mcft from Kukadi Left Bank Canal then, this total 8445 Ha. irrigable area under Sina dam will be fully irrigated and project will also serve the drinking water needs in villages under command. Bhose Khind Tunnel is actually a feeder tunnel to augment the storage of Sina Medium Project. After completion of this Bhose Khind tunnel, it will be possible to irrigate the full command area of 8445 Ha., of Sina Project which lies in drought prone area of Ahmednagar & Beed district.
Bhose Khind tunnel project lies in Karjat and Shrigonda taluka of Ahmednagar District. This is having total length 19.210 kms in which 1.34 km is open canal from the off taking point and 1.56 km of the end of Sina Dam and between two open canal ,tunnel of length 16.31 km at about average 73 mtrs depth below the ground level is being proposed in hard strata and having sufficient overburden. The water can easily let out in to the dam by gravity flow method. Total 1200 mcft water will be let out from Kukadi Left Bank Canal off taking at chainage 166/190 in Km.No.167. Out of which 700 mcft is to be utilized for drought prone area Karjat Taluka in Ahmednagar district and the., remaining 500 mcft will be given to Mehekari Project in Ashti Taluka Dist. Beed in Marathwada Region.
